21 July, 2017: Last night, fellow author Vicki Stevens and Jane had the pleasure of attending this event at the State Library of Q'ld. Author of renowned works such as 'Zigzag Street' spoke about his passion for these small books, sources of his eclectic ideas. A vibrant, unpretentious author. Have just read 'Gotham' from his new 'Wisdom Tree' series about what makes us tick. A joy to read.
Brisbane Writers Group Convention
On 27 August, 2017, Jane attended another annual Brisbane Writers Group Convention. Worthwhile tips re writing, editing and the publishing industry. Thanks to Gillian Lloyd for a fabulous day. These events seem to get better every year. Pictured below is romance writer Tania Joyce who shared some tips for self-publishing.
4 May, 2017: Last Sunday's Sandcliffe Writers Festival was a worthwhile experience. Some inspirational authors, including Susan Johnson, Jacqueline Henry and Lauren Daniels (pictured), shared stories of their unique journeys, the mentors who spurred them on, works that continue to resonate.
Jacqueline advised the audience to become associate members of the Australian Society of Authors, a great source of workshops, tutorials and links.
Susan advised those who write in the genre of children's books, to join the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators.
